Melbourne-based artist Dean Bowen is renowned for his charming, child-like aesthetic. With a practice spanning over 25 years and encompassing painting, bronze sculpture and printmaking.
He has held over seventy solo exhibitions in Australia, France, Japan, Switzerland and the United Kingdom. He has won many national and international awards including prizes in Japan in the Sapporo International Print Biennial, 1998 and the Osaka Print Triennale, 1994 and 1997. He was a finalist in the Helen Lempriere National Sculpture Award in 2008 and 2003 and his paintings have been shortlisted for both the Sulman and Wynne prizes (Art Gallery of New South Wales).
Dean Bowen's work is represented in over 70 national and international collections including the National Gallery of Australia; Parliament House Collection Canberra; Heide Museum of Modern Art; Fukuoka Museum of Art, Japan; National Taiwan Museum of Fine Arts; Bibliotheque Nationale, Paris and the Art Gallery of New South Wales.
