Biography

Bruce Earles exhibited widely across Australia and Internationally from the 1970s onwards and his academic qualifications and artistic achievements have been considerable since his days at Roar Studios between 1983 and 1986. In 2000, he was awarded a Pollock Krasner Award, from the Pollock Krasner Foundation, New York. The following year he became a Doctor of Creative Art, University of Western Sydney.

The source of his work is soundly based with aesthetic appeal and relevant sociological themes - man’s interaction with the environment, urban existence and the harmony that can exist between industry and leisure. Huge man-made city structures and the power of the ocean dominate his landscapes; while humans, animals, birds and plants permeate the canvas, interlocking with each other in an interrelated composition.

Earles’ brilliant use of colour and gritty textures allow his images to protrude beyond the boundaries of the canvas. The multi-angled viewpoint of his paintings allows free expression of images within the space.
